Waukesha Salon Reveals Spring 2014 Fashion Trends April 2014
By Christy Nelson
As always, new seasons bring new inspiration to the fashion world. This remains true for Spring of 2014. Among the many trends you will see this season, a few really stood out at Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week: Sports-Luxe, Monochrome, and All White. These were noted by thefashionsection.com, as the most ready-to-wear styles that we have seen on the runway. Below, are some tips on how to wear each of these trends, as well as what else to look for this Spring!
SPORTS-LUXE
- Wear hair down and sleek if you want a more professional look. For a casual hairstyle with this fashion trend, do a sleek ponytail or topknot.
- Show some skin. (skirts, shorts, and cropped sweatshirts/tops)
- A structured bag can really dress up this look.
- Wear strappy heels.
- Look for mesh, black & white trim, bold colors, quilting, stripes and laces in apparel.
Monochrome
- Most apparel on the runways were black and white, but you can get the ‘monochrome’ effect with color too; keeping everything strictly tone-on-tone.
- Keep your shoe cohesive; black or nude.
- Only have ONE structured accessory.
- Makeup should be subtle however, do experiment with a pop of color on the lip. (‘Tangerine’ was the lip color most often seen on the runways for spring 2014)
ALL WHITE
- Accessorize lightly, and with metallic pieces. (belts, jewelry, bag)
- Shoes should be nude, or metallic for a clean look. (Black for monochromatic effect)
- Layer pieces-stay consistent with fabrics, or mix them up completely to show depth through texture.
- Makeup should look fresh, and natural.
